Collection: Rats

Why choose our Rats?

Our feeder rats are produced with uncompromising standards. Every part of the process — from diet to environment — is designed to deliver a healthier, calmer, and nutritionally superior food source for reptiles, birds of prey, and mammals.

Enrichment is non-negotiable. Based in the Northern Rivers of NSW, we use local whole macadamia nuts and fresh bamboo as enrichment. The macadamia shells provide a tough, problem-solving enrichment for gnawing, handling, and mental stimulation — supporting dental wear and reducing stress.

Once they gnaw through the tough exterior, the nuts’ kernel is rich in monounsaturated fats naturally low in omega-6, resulting in lower inflammation markers in the rats. Bamboo adds natural chewing and tunnelling structure, keeping teeth healthy and encouraging natural activity. These aren’t luxuries — they’re essential to producing a robust, nutritionally balanced feeder animal.

We are aware of the rise in stomach cancers in captive pythons; one theory links this uptick to the long-term dietary monotony of low-quality, industrially produced feeder rodents. Our goal is to redefine what a feeder rodent should be — cleaner, nutritionally diverse, and raised in ways that reflect real prey ecology, not industrial convenience.

Unfortunately, most frozen rodents on the market come from laboratory strains bred for rapid growth and high reproduction, creating genetically uniform animals that lack the resilience of natural stock. Our breeding program prioritises health, not speed, supported by a balanced diet of grains, vegetables, fruits, and nuts, maintained in small, enrichment-focused colonies to minimise stress.

The result: high-quality prey with genuine nutritional depth — produced without compromise.

Our goal is simple: We want to help you keep better.
